Remote & Virtual Tower (RVT)

WG-100 shall develop standards for Remote Towers. The scope shall encompass technical system aspects, developing the Minimum Aviation System Performance Standards (MASPS) applicable to the visual surveillance function i.e. optical sensors. and encompassing the whole chain from sensor to display. Later updates to the MASPS shall include augmentation of the visual surveillance function by visual tracking, Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) object following functions, the use of surveillance sensors beyond optical sensors, and the use of Artificial Intelligence. Cybersecurity, as impacts remote tower systems, shall also be addressed.
The standardisation activities of WG-100 shall consider experience of airports and ANSPs in the field of Remote Tower, including:
• ICAO documentation, specifically ICAO Doc 9750 Global Air Navigation Plan for CNS/ATM Systems (GANP);
• EASA Guidance Materials;
• Released SESAR project materials;
• The findings and results of applicable Remote Tower research, implementations and technical developments.
